MONTENEGRO
Your journey begins in Herceg Novi, a coastal gem at the gateway to the Bay of Kotor. From the marina of the five-star Lazure Hotel, you’ll board a private sailing boat and set off across the sparkling Adriatic. The sea reveals its secrets almost immediately — the glowing Blue Cave (Plava Špilja), where light reflects through underwater passages to paint the walls in otherworldly blue, and the historic Mamula Fortress, a 19th-century stone sentinel on a tiny island.
After swimming in the cave and exploring the fortress, you’ll sail along the rugged Luštica Peninsula to the fishing village of Ribarsko Selo, where a lunch of freshly grilled Adriatic fish, octopus salad, and black risotto is served by the sea.
Those on the Active Edition will continue the afternoon with a gentle cycling tour through Luštica, riding quiet roads through olive groves and charming villages like Rose and Klinci, overlooking secluded bays and the open Adriatic.
In the evening, both groups reconvene for an intimate wine tasting and dinner at Savina Winery, where award-winning local vintages are paired with prosciutto, cheeses, and slow-roasted meats. The day ends with a sunset walk through Herceg Novi’s old stone streets, scented with salt and citrus.
After breakfast, the journey continues by sea — a sailing cruise through the Bay of Kotor, one of the world’s most stunning natural harbors. You’ll pass the elegant One&Only Portonovi Resort, the verdant Island of Flowers (Ostrvo Cvijeća), and glamorous Porto Montenegro, a marina lined with superyachts and waterfront cafés, where you’ll pause for coffee.
The next destination is the island church of Our Lady of the Rocks (Gospa od Škrpjela) — a symbol of Montenegrin devotion — followed by the baroque town of Perast, where cobbled streets, maritime legends, and Venetian façades evoke centuries of seafaring history.
Lunch is served at a traditional mussel farm in Orahovac, where guests watch mussels harvested from the sea before tasting them steamed in garlic, olive oil, and white wine.
In the afternoon, you’ll arrive in Kotor, a UNESCO World Heritage site enclosed by medieval walls. Explore its ancient cathedrals, stone alleyways, and fortifications before enjoying an elegant dinner at Restaurant Galion, overlooking the illuminated bay.
Today marks the transition from the coast to the highlands. You’ll ascend via the Kotor–Lovćen Cable Car, soaring above the fjord for unmatched panoramic views. At the summit, relax with coffee at Forza Kuk as you take in vistas stretching from the Adriatic to the Montenegrin interior.
Guests on the Active Edition continue with a mountain ride through Lovćen National Park, cycling peaceful roads through Ivanova Korita to the Njegoš Mausoleum viewpoint, perched above the clouds. The descent passes through Njeguši, the birthplace of Montenegro’s royal dynasty, famous for its smoked ham and cheese — which, naturally, you’ll taste along the way.
Both versions meet again in Cetinje, the historic royal capital, for an afternoon coffee before transferring north to the mountain town of Kolašin. Dinner at Vodenica Restaurant introduces you to Montenegrin comfort food — kačamak, cicvara, roasted lamb, and homemade bread — before resting overnight at the alpine Hotel Bianca Resort & Spa.
Morning brings fresh air and alpine horizons. You’ll set out toward the Bjelasica Mountain range, stopping first at Šćepanović Honey Farm, where you’ll taste homemade honey with priganice — local fried dough served warm with cheese and cream.
From here, the day divides again:
The Classic route continues with an off-road buggy or jeep adventure deep into Bjelasica’s wild landscapes, stopping at Vranjak Hut (1,800 m) and Zekova Glava viewpoint for sweeping vistas over Pešića Lake. Along the way, you’ll visit a local mountain household for a pita-making demonstration and tasting of traditional dishes.
The Active Edition trades the engine for an e-bike, following a scenic mountain trail from Eco Katun Vranjak to Bendovac. Surrounded by untouched nature, this 15 km ride offers panoramic views of Bjelasica’s rolling meadows and ridges.
Both groups reunite at Biogradska Gora National Park, one of Europe’s last primeval rainforests, where you’ll enjoy a lakeside lunch at Biogradsko Lake and stroll along its tranquil forest paths. Dinner and overnight in Kolašin.
After breakfast, head toward the Đurđevića Tara Bridge, a masterpiece of 20th-century engineering and one of the most iconic viewpoints in the Balkans. Brave guests can glide over the abyss on the Tara Canyon Zipline, suspended above Europe’s deepest canyon.
Then comes the main thrill: rafting 41 km of the Tara River, often called the “Tear of Europe” for its clarity and turquoise glow. Guided by professionals, you’ll paddle through rapids, waterfalls, and serene pools, passing landmarks such as the Ljutica River, Zeleni Virovi (Green Pools), and the Žugić rapids.
Lunch is a riverside barbecue of grilled trout, veal, and local rakija. The evening brings rest and warmth at Porto Tara Eco Resort, where you’ll dine by the river, surrounded by the sounds of the canyon and the scent of pine.
The adventure continues into the heart of Durmitor National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site of glacial valleys and alpine ridges. A scenic jeep drive to Ćurevac viewpoint unveils vast panoramas of the Tara Canyon.
Those on the Active Edition will continue by bike through Durmitor’s forest trails toward the crystalline Black Lake (Crno Jezero) — a gentle 10 km ride surrounded by mountain silence. The Classic route follows the legendary Durmitor Ring, a panoramic loop past Sedlo Pass, Bobotov Kuk, and glacial lakes like Škrčko and Zminje, with stops for photography and herbal tea tasting.
The two routes merge at Black Lake, where a lakeside lunch awaits — lamb chops, cicvara, wild mushroom stew, and mountain herbal tea brewed from endemic Durmitor herbs. The evening is free to relax in Žabljak, the highest town in the Balkans, before a cozy dinner and final night in the mountains.
After breakfast, your private transfer takes you to Podgorica, Tivat, or Dubrovnik Airport. If time allows, a final stop for lunch or a short mountain stroll can be arranged before departure — a quiet moment to take in everything Montenegro has given you: its sea breeze, its mountain air, and its timeless warmth.
